Workshops

Our seasonally-run classes and workshops include a wide variety of culinary techniques and styles, including everything from kids’ cooking to highly specialized three-hour workshops on gluten-free baking. Some classes run four to six weeks long, whereas workshops are offered as a one-time, three-hour session.

Skill Workshops

Knife Skills Part 1

Learn how to handle sharp tools with confidence in this very popular workshop. Start by julienning vegetables and work your way to more complex food fundamentals. Cut down your cooking time (pun intended!) so you can have more time enjoying your meals with family and friends.

Find out how to determine a good-quality kitchen tool, and how to best care for your knives. Please bring a container to take food home.

Knife Skills Part 2

Step up your game in the kitchen with this advanced knife skills workshop (Knife skills 1 required). Learn to fine tune your knife skills and go beyond julienne vegetables. Find out how to de-bone meat and fillet fish without cutting yourself or destroying your ingredients. Plus, learn how to sharpen and care for good-quality knives that can last you a lifetime.

Baking Workshops

Bread Making

Knead the knots out of your shoulders with this soothing bread-making workshop. Learn basic doughs like whole-wheat and multigrain before graduating to more sophisticated, personalized breads for both savory and sweet treats. Please bring a container to take food home.

Specialty Cake Decorating

Find out how to create beautiful desserts to perfectly accent your special event in this cake decorating class. Learn thematic aspects of pastry decoration in structure, fondant and piping; how to express your theme with decorations; and the tips and tricks to using decorations and tools.

Get creative with your own designs and ideas, and work up to the challenge of creating your own sugar flowers. Please bring a container to take food home.

Fun with Sugar and Butter

It’s just like being a kid again. Learn the magic of creating buttery cookies, a crumbly shortcrust, light-as-air pastry and flaky puff pastry. Create fillings your guests will moon over when you host a tea party to showcase your new skills.

Holiday Workshops

Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner

Banish family-gathering anxiety with this holiday prep class. Learn all the tips you need to create the perfect turkey dinner, including lump-free homemade gravy, fluffy mashed potatoes and tangy cranberry sauce. Forget about the same old steamed vegetables and find out how to create side dishes with a twist. By the end of this workshop you will be inviting your in-laws for a turkey dinner!

Holiday baking

Find out how make shortbread that is fit for the Queen. Buckingham-palace shortbread, mincemeat and a variety of festive holiday cookies and sweet treats will be covered in this workshop. Get tips on wrapping your treats with finesse for holiday gift giving.

Salad doesn’t have to be your enemy! Usher in the beginning of summer by learning how to incorporate the unexpected. Find out how to create unique combinations of your favourite foods while avoiding the pitfalls of an iceberg-lettuce-and-tomato travesty. Please bring a container to take food home.

Appetizers Made Easy!

Be the crowd-pleaser you’ve always wanted to be with this Appetizer workshop. Learn how and what to prep ahead, the best components for miniature servings, and how to present your best appetizer platters. The only thing left will be sending out the invitations!

Brunch: The Next Level

Put the coffee on and learn to host an impressive brunch with ease. Find out how to elevate classic brunch favourites to the next level, including stuffed French toast with rhubarb-lavender compote; crab benedict with tea hollandaise sauce; and banana macadamia nut stacks.

Food preservation

Learn how to properly can and preserve food in this food preservation class. Use seasonal fruits and vegetables to create jams and sauces you’ll enjoy for months to come. Gluten-free Cooking and Baking

Are you muddled about millet, confused about cornmeal and quizzical about quinoa? Find out the differences between a wide range of alternative, gluten-free ingredients — including polenta, barley, potato and rice flours — in this clarifying workshop, and learn how to work with a variety of gluten-free ingredients.

Find out the tips and tricks to making moist meals that you would never suspect are gluten-free. Wheat lovers need not apply.
